Apple has announced the most anticipated iPad 2 with significant difference. The 2nd generation iPad has quite exceptional features as compared to the predecessor who has just faced a price-down by the Apple. Apple, in a press release as promised earlier through an invitation to a March 2 event, stated that the 2nd generation iPad will be on air from 11th of this month with starting price of $499.

The new iPad has the following features and specs:

9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display with IPS technology (unchanged)
1024×768 pixels resolution (unchanged)
Superfast graphics (up to 9 times faster)
Amazing 10-hour battery life (unchanged)
Rear camera with HD video recording up to 720p (still camera with 5x digital zoom)
Front facing camera with VGA video recording
Facetime optimization with both cameras
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology
Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) (and 3G for WiFi +3G Model)
16 GB Storage (minimum; 32GB & 64GB also available)

All the new additions and improvements are done within the price range of predecessor i.e $499. And most amazingly, Apple has kept the power consumption unaltered as of original iPad.

The 2nd generation iPad carries a HDMI port so that you can view the HD videos captured by the device on other compatible device like the MacBook. And most amazing of all, the iPad 2 is just 8.8mm thick which is up to 33 percent thinner than the iPad. And it is 0.5mm thinner than iPhone 4.
